Turning Waste Into Impact: Join Our Mission

Every year, this ocean is filling with waste from Bangkok's city canals, contributing to the ocean crisis for marine creatures and people all around the world. TerraCycle believes in a closed-looped solution through our meaningful Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs that give back and make an impact.

Our environmental programs range from removing waste from Bangkok's canals, plastic-awareness educational campaigns, corporate programs, river and ocean cleanup projects to helping protect the everglades. Everything is done with a commitment to the sustainable growth of the communities in which we operate, encouraging a value-creating long-term change.

PARTNERS IN PROTECTING OUR OCEANS

Our incredible partners have already ardirection in expanding our ocean cleanup and sustainability conservation programs. Thanks to their understanding, we've recovered millions of pounds of waste and are expected to recycle or properly get rid knowledge to keep our oceans clean.

CSR PROGRAMS

At TerraCycle, corporate social responsibility is at the heart of what we do. We are committed to making meaningful, positive changes through our innovative recycling programs and partnerships with individuals, businesses, and communities as we aim to create a lasting positive impact on the environment.
Waterway Cleanup

Waterway Cleanup

Bangkok's canals are filled with plastic waste, which harms the environment and local communities. Our Waterway Cleanup program focuses on removing trash from rivers, canals, and coastal areas before it reaches the ocean. Volunteers work together to collect, sort, and recycle the waste, helping to keep the water clean and safe. This activity not only protects marine life but also supports local waste workers who play a key role in managing pollution.
Education Initiatives

Education Initiatives

Change starts with knowledge. Our Education Initiatives help people understand the impact of waste and how they can take action. Through workshops, school programs, and corporate training, we teach about plastic pollution, recycling, and sustainable living. One of our key programs is the School Waste Bank, where students learn how to sort and recycle waste, developing responsible habits from a young age. We also work with communities and businesses to promote sustainable practices and waste reduction.
Beach Cleanup

Beach Cleanup

Thailand’s beautiful beaches are under threat from plastic pollution. Our Beach Cleanup program brings people together to remove trash from the shores, keeping them clean and safe for both people and marine life. By collecting waste before it breaks down into tiny harmful pieces, we help protect the ocean and its creatures. Volunteers also learn about where this waste comes from and how to prevent it in the future.

Making a Difference

Every piece of plastic we remove from waterways brings us closer to a cleaner planet. But our work doesn't stop at cleanup - we focus on long-term solutions, sustainable practices, and using innovation to create lasting change.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our Canal Cleanup events have removed over 1.5 million kg of waste from Bangkok’s waterways, significantly reducing ocean pollution and improving local ecosystems. These efforts provide fair pay and stable employment for waste pickers. All collected waste is responsibly managed through recycling, waste-to-energy programs, and other diversion initiatives. We also develop innovative solutions like trash-trap devices and recycling networks to strengthen long-term sustainability. Beyond cleanup, we invest in community education to raise awareness about waste management and environmental conservation, creating a foundation for lasting impact.
Yes! Businesses can participate in our Sponsor a Child program, which funds environmental education for children in underserved communities. This initiative equips the next generation with the knowledge and tools to become sustainability champions and make informed choices about waste management.
All collected waste is carefully sorted to minimize environmental impact. Recyclables are processed through certified recycling channels, while non-recyclable waste is sent to an advanced waste-to-energy facility. This facility generates up to 5 megawatts of clean energy per day and operates under strict European air and water quality standards, ensuring no harm to the surrounding environment. Even the ash produced during the process is repurposed for eco-friendly construction materials, making sure nothing goes to waste.
Partnering with TerraCycle Foundation strengthens your company's CSR and sustainability credentials, demonstrating a genuine commitment to environmental impact. It offers employees meaningful volunteer opportunities, enhances ESG performance, and builds consumer trust by showcasing responsible business practices. All collected waste is carefully sorted to maximize recovery and minimize impact. Recyclable materials are sent for responsible processing, while non-recyclable plastics are handled through TerraCycle’s waste innovation programs - including advanced recycling and waste-to-energy solutions. This approach ensures that every piece of waste is managed with minimal environmental impact.
Unlike one-off cleanup efforts, our approach is long-term, systematic, and designed for real impact. We focus on high-impact waterways, integrate innovative recycling solutions, and combine cleanup efforts with education and corporate engagement to drive lasting environmental change. Many cleanup programs focus only on collecting high-value items like PET bottles and aluminum cans. While it may look like they’ve solved the problem, they often leave behind 90% of the waste - items that are difficult or expensive to collect and recycle. This is especially common in "island-based projects" where only the profitable waste is removed, and the rest is ignored. Other programs may collect everything, but sort very little, sending most of it straight to landfills. At TerraCycle Foundation, we believe in complete solutions. We collect everything - from food waste, plastics, metals, hazardous materials, rubber, clothing, and electronics - and ensure that each item is responsibly processed. All recyclable materials are properly sorted and sent for processing, while non-recyclables are managed through TerraCycle’s waste innovation programs, including waste-to-energy initiatives, to ensure minimal environmental impact. This is how we tackle the full problem, not just the easy parts - and create real, measurable change.

Yes, we conduct educational workshops and presentations in schools, universities, and public spaces. These sessions cover ocean pollution, sustainability, and how individuals can take action.
Yes! Cleaning canals and rivers is one of the most effective ways to prevent plastic from ever reaching the ocean. By stopping waste at its source, we not only reduce the impact on marine ecosystems but also increase the chances that materials can be properly recycled. Unfortunately, once plastic enters the ocean, it quickly begins to break down into smaller, degraded pieces due to sun, saltwater, and wave action. Even if it's eventually collected, these degraded plastics are often too damaged to be recycled - turning a recyclable item into unrecoverable pollution. That’s why intercepting waste upstream is so critical - for both environmental protection and true circularity.
Volunteer cleanups are open to the public and focus on community action. CSR events are structured team experiences for companies, with added elements like sustainability education, team-building activities, and impact reporting.
Yes! In addition to cleanup activities, we offer sustainability workshops, corporate impact challenges, and waste innovation sessions tailored for businesses.
Absolutely! Sponsoring a school or student group is a great way to expand sustainability education and give young people hands-on learning experiences.

Each event includes a guided canal boat tour, hands-on waste collection along the canal and at our river traps, a community lunch, and a practical workshop on recycling and waste reduction. We are fully insured, provide all necessary safety equipment, and ensure access to clean bathrooms and comfortable facilities throughout the day.
